Since I started writing four years ago, I’ve dreamed of having my own special room for writing. It will be an oasis, a place to relax, a place where the magic will happen. And every day will be a writing retreat. But then, what writer doesn’t dream of such a place.
And then I had an idea. Why not convert the workout room, which only gets used in the winter months, into the room of my dreams? As the thought occurred, a vision began to form. Ideas stalked me until I could think of little else. But then, I still had to get my husband’s concurrence. After all, what if he had similar plans to convert the room into a man cave?
But alas, my husband loved the idea. I think he especially liked the idea of getting my writing table and stacks (and stacks) of manuscripts, et al, out of the bedroom. So I placed an ad a and sold my spin bike and treadmill, and got to work.

Here are a couple of items I decided to finish myself:
I can’t wait to start spending my evenings and weekends relaxing and writing in My Happy Place.
What about you? Do you have an area of your home that is just for you? If not (yet), do you have ideas for just a place at some point?

That is a heavenly room. Great job!!

Love the room -would love to be there. I live in NYC so it isn’t possible to have a room just for writing. I have to use my bedroom, sometimes when the TV is on, while the dog is barking, while my husband is complaining ….no wonder I haven’t made the best seller list!

La la love the new room! Great job Suz! I have my special place, my sewing room. I’ll let you in on a secret, sometimes I go in there just to relax and no sewing goes on at all!

I won’t tell. I promise.

I tried to give myself a “happy place,” but alas, I must share the office with my hubby who does not share my appreciation for books on writing, binders of important articles I’ve collected from over the years, stacks of magazines (for inspiration), filing cabinets full of writing supplies, manuscripts, contest entries and comments, etc.
So my writing/craft/hobby room is also a space for my husband to use whenever the urge hits him. Nothing is sacred in my “happy place.”
I love yours though. Nice job my friend. I especially like the mirror and faux fireplace.

I almost didn’t buy the fireplace, but I just love it. Will even likes to come in an hang out sometimes.

Awesome, Suzanne! I bet you knock words out like crazy in your special spot!
Suzanne Vince
Thanks, Rhenna. Happy New Year to you.

Great use of that space and I adore the fireplace in the closet. So cool! I have an art “space”, and I’m happy to have that, but I dream of a room with a door to close!
Suzanne Vince
LOL. Yeah, a door is pretty cool.
Marianne
A work of art, your talent goes much further than writing, and I would never leave that room…
Suzanne Vince
Thanks, Mar.
